Maple Grove man sentenced for wire fraud, identity theft


A 22-year-old Maple Grove man was sentenced today in federal court to prison on one
count of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft in connection with a scheme to
steal credit card account information and use it to add value to gift cards that he purchased.

FORMER FOLSOM RESIDENT PLEADS GUILTY TO TRAFFICKING IN COUNTERFEIT MERCHANDISE


SACRAMENTO, Calif.—Acting United States Attorney Lawrence G. Brown announced today that KA KIT LAM, 38, of San Jose, Calif. (formerly of Folsom, Calif.) pleaded guilty today before United States District Judge William B. Shubb, Jr. to one count of trafficking in counterfeit goods and services.

DISTRIBUTOR OF COUNTERFEIT PHARMACEUTICALS DRUGS
CONVICTED


(HOUSTON) - Richard Fletcher, 57, of Dallas, Texas, has been convicted of conspiring
to distribute counterfeit pharmaceuticals and trafficking in pharmaceuticals bearing false
labeling and counterfeit trademarks, acting United States Attorney Tim Johnson
announced today. Fletcher pleaded guilty to both federal offenses at a hearing this
morning before United States District Judge Lee Rosenthal. Fletcher faces a maximum
sentence of 10 years in federal prison, without parole, a $250,000 fine and no more than
three years of supervised release after the prison term at sentencing set for June 23, 2009.

SYSTEMS USED TO MONITOR OFF-SHORE OIL PLATFORMS


An Upland man who worked at a company that operated off-shore oil platforms was
indicted today on federal charges of damaging the company’s computer systems after it
declined to offer him permanent employment.

TEXAS MAN SENTENCED TO 41 MONTHS IN PRISON FOR SELLING COUNTERFEIT
SOFTWARE WORTH $1 MILLION ON WEB SITES


WASHINGTON - Timothy Kyle Dunaway, 24, of Wichita Falls, Texas, was sentenced today
to 41 months in prison by U.S. District Court Judge Reed O’Connor in Wichita Falls for selling
counterfeit computer software through the Internet in violation of criminal copyright infringement
laws, Acting Assistant Attorney General Rita M. Glavin of the Criminal Division and Acting U.S.
Attorney James T. Jacks for the Northern District of Texas announced. The software sold by
Dunaway had a combined retail value of more than $1 million.
